کتاب مقدس یا بائبل (یونانی τὰ βιβλία) (انگریزی: Bible) یونانی لفظ۔ بمعنی کتب۔ مسیحیوں کی مقدس کتاب، جس میں عہد نامہ قدیم (عتیق) کی 39 کتب، عہد نامہ جدید کی 27 کتب اور کیتھولک مجموعہ میں ایپوکریفا کی کتب بھی شامل ہیں۔ بائبل عبرانی زبان میں تھی۔ بعد ازاں یونانی، قطبی اور شامی زبانوں میں ترجمہ ہوا۔ انگریزی ترجمہ 1610ء میں بہ عہد جیمز اول شائع ہوا۔ اسے 47 مسیحی علما نے چھ سال کے عرصے میں مکمل کیا تھا۔ جرمن ترجمہ مشہور جرمن مذہبی رہنما اور پروٹسٹنٹ فرقے کے بانی، مارٹن لوتھر نے کیا۔ بائبل کا اب تک ایک ہزار زبانوں میں ترجمہ ہو چکا ہے اور یہ دنیا کی سب سے زیادہ چھپنے والی کتاب ہے۔ کیتھولک عیسائیوں کے نزدیک بائیبل 2 حصوں پر مشتمل جو کہ عہدنامہ جدید اور عہدنامہ قدیم کہلاتی ہیں۔ عہدنامہ قدیم (یا عہدنامہ عتیق) : یہ حصہ کائنات کی تخلیق سے حضرت عیسیٰ علیہ السلام سے 400 سال پہلے تک کے واقعات پر مشتمل ہے۔ عہدنامہ جدید: اس حصہ میں حضرت عیسیٰ پر نازل ہونے والی انجیلیں، حضرت عیسیٰ کی طرف سے لکھے گئے خطوط اور حضرت عیسیٰ کے حواریوں کے قصے شامل ہیں۔
